The Phantom Menace
Nikita was very good for all of five minutes after I returned home. She sat quietly on the back of the loveseat. YIKES!! A black flash as she zooms into the hallway. Yowling, loud meows, crying accompany sounds of her jumping up and down. I cannot see her, so call out, "what's wrong, sweetie?" ZOOOMMMM back into the living room. Eyes wide, ears up. "You have no idea! There was this giant monster bug flying around in the hallway. I am doing my best to keep us safe!" Overcome with excitement, she decides a quick rest on the coffee table would re-charge her batteries. (As if they needed it!) Takes up her position on the other side of the computer. I tell her to get down. She rolls onto her back and strikes an endearing pose. I try to avoid laughing.
Still on full alert, she thinks she hears that awful bug.
YOWSA!!!! And she's off again. More yowling and other sounds of distress. "Mama, that giant monster bug is still here! Don't worry! Super Nikita is on the job!' So pleased. Feels compelled to jump on the mantle and try to dislodge the clock. I disagree. She runs to her cat carrier and darts inside. Surely Mama can't see her if she can't see Mama. Amazed to learn that she was wrong on that one. Now she and the carrier are in Time Out.
I go to get her out of Time Out. She is sitting on the chair. I take a picture and then tell her she's cute. She starts to roll over to for pets and kisses, forgetting that she is perched on a chair. Rolls right off. The picture of righteous indignation when I laugh out loud. Clearly affronted, "You are laughing at my clumsiness? Really?!?! Have you met yourself?" She flounces out of the room. Suitably chastened and profoundly sorry that I didn't get a photo of her falling off the chair, I follow her.
At least she didn't walk over the laptop keys!!!
