The Calm Before the Storm?

Nikita has been so good tonight.  Well, up until about 5 minutes ago.  Had been sleeping most of the evening:

Ruth had suggested this whole thing was a ruse on Nikita's part, designed to lull me into a false sense of security so that I would be unprepared for her attack.  And sure enough,

Now she is tearing around the apartment.  Up and down off the furniture.  Lands on the mantle.  Makes her way over to the end table.  Wrestles with it for awhile.  No take-downs, but does manage to scratch the mahogany.  A quick stop at the window.  Gets spooked by something and ZOOOMMMM to the kitchen.

A brief stay on the bookcase.

And another on the mantle.

Now she's sitting in front of a heat vent enjoying the rush of air.  Actually holding her two front paws up to catch maximum heat.  Now all is clear:  she has been good because lying on the quilt next to me is a way for her to stay warm!

She'll probably be up half the night.  Foraging in various closets, flushing the toilet at random intervals, and just generally startling me out of an uneasy sleep.
