Confronting THE MOTH

I am leaving an angelic looking sleeping cat. I am sure that when I return she'll be primed and ready. Warn the villagers!

Marty:  Hide the children!!!

Okay, so I am sitting here reading email and Nikita goes strolling off to the kitchen. I hear her eating, yes her food is quite crunchy. Next, I feel as if I am being watched. I glance over my shoulder and THERE SHE IS (the opposite side of the house from where the kitchen is located.) Scared the daylights out of me. She unsuccessfully hid a smirk as she sat there.

Let the drawer opening begin! Opens a small drawer, face disappears inside. Much rattling. She emerges with sewing notions in her mouth. brings them to me with no small amount of gloating. For once, I don't react. She finds my camera and knocks it to the floor. Now has my computer bag in her sights.

Debbie:  It looks like the night is just getting started for Niki.

Me:  On top of the dining room table now. Determining whether or not to jump up and swing on the chandelier. Hmmm...still pondering. Staring at it. Does she dare? She is mesmerized.

ENTER THE MOTH!!!

Me:  Still staring at the chandelier. Remembers she once swung from it when she was a kitten. Ah, the joy! OMG, Wait! There's a moth flying around the light bulbs. Does it get any more exciting than this?? No! She is quivering. Has that evil moth in her sights. No way will that moth make it through the next hour. Adrenalin is palpable.

Ruth:  A moth does get the attention of my cat Ollie. And he has made some amazing leaps to high up places. But has never eyed the dining room chandelier. And since he weighs 18 pounds I hope he never does. His brother Murry is 20 pounds. They are large but not fat cats.

Me:  That wily moth flew away. Nikita is frantic. Where did it go? Where did it go? Oh, well, might as well start jumping onto and off of various pieces of furniture. THUNK. Loud, yes, but she stuck the landing!

Ruth:  Both of mine have been asleep for hours. Ollie did stop by to get a little snuggle time in, but he is curled up on the sofa. Murry is upstairs on the bed. They sleep a lot.

Me:  Nikita sleeps when I am gone. Scramble, scramble!!! Moth has been spotted!! it's on the ceiling. What to do? she tries without success to jump to the ceiling...maybe jumping on a piece of furniture first would do the trick. Should she jump to the living room ceiling first? No, the moth is on the dining room ceiling. better go in there. Come on, moth, get down here. Jedi mind tricks employed. "You don't want to be on the ceiling." Vocalizations from Nikita. Springs on to the upper window sill. DANG. Still can't get to that moth!

Ruth:  What she hates is that the moth has wings and she doesn't. That makes it an unfair fight.

Me:  She agrees! Nonetheless, she WILL defeat the forces of evil.
Ruth:  Of course, she does have the ability to teleport......

Me:  More vocalizations. Sounds quite distressed. Comes in and asks for my help. Sees I am busy facebooking about her. Stomps off in disgust.

Me:  I succumb to her pleas and knock the Evil Moth off of the ceiling. Nikita is not grateful. "Why the H**L did you do that?" Returns to living room. That moth has to be on the ceiling in here now. Mama has ruined everything. Now she has to hunt the evil beast down all over again.

Beth:  You should write a book. Like seriously! LOL this is awesome.

Me:  A couple of people have suggested a blog. As you can see from my wall I have written a lot of these posts.

Beth:  Yeah...a blog is definitely a better idea. Duh. I'm way behind. LOL

Me:  Exhausted from the drama, Nikita curls up on the back of the loveseat. Her ability to be sound asleep while also looking disappointed is astonishing.

Marty:  Since I"m not her mama (kind of like being the doting Grandma) I can say this--love these updates!!!!!!!!!!!

Anneke: LOL. I don't think she's asleep. She's merely closing her eyes while plotting...

Nikita:  I will stare at that moth until it bends to my will.

    1. Definitely! Nikita apparently knows her misdeeds have been broadcast. She is nowhere to be found.

  3. OMG she really is opening drawers! Not that I didn't believe you, but...the proof is in the pudding, or pictures in this case. She is a hoot!
